The demolition of the entire rear and side of a 1930s house at ground floor level to open up the back of the house entirely. The opening from the hall into the new space was widened and a pocket door installed so that when opened, the impact of the new space could be seen on arrival. Store, utility and WC created in the side extension. Strict planning rules, neighbour consultations and site constraints led to the final form of the extension.
